Local educational agencies (LEAs) may use the World Language Reading Challenge Participation Form to indicate that they are participating in the World Language Reading Challenge Week. LEAs must submit a form each year to be included in the list of participating schools and districts that the California Department of Education (CDE) publishes annually.
The CDE requests that this form be submitted to the CDE by March 31 of each year in order to ensure that LEAs are counted in the list of participating schools and districts for that school year (For example, submit by March 31, 2023, to be included in the 2022-23 participation data). The CDE will provide access to the printable World Language Reading Challenge certificate template to LEAs who submit a World Language Reading Challenge Participation Form. LEAs may choose to use the template as is or modify it to fit their local needs. LEAs may add student names and print certificates locally. |

This web page includes a link to a toolkit with resources to support implementation created by the California Language Teachers Association Underrepresented Languages Special Interest Group. |
| The CDE requests that LEAs submit the school name(s), the total number of participating students per grade level, and the program model(s) offered. The CDE also requests the languages, other than English, in which students are participating; the number of students with an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) participating; and the number of current and former English learners participating. Answers are required for all questions, except where otherwise indicated. Data collected from this form will be reported annually on the CDE World Language Reading Challenge web page. |
