The California Department of Education (CDE) is initiating the process of updating the Career Technical Education (CTE) Model Curriculum Standards (MCS) and Framework to align with California’s current in-demand skills, industry standards, and projected career trends. The Advance CTE National Career Clusters Framework (PDF) will serve as a guide for this work to allow for meaningful comparisons with CTE programs nationally . We are bringing together industry, workforce, and education focus groups to do an industry validation exercise as the first step in this effort.
